Our Future: A Battle between Dreams and Reality

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen:

When I was in the primary school, I have a dream. I want to invent a device which could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. When I was in the secondary school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. And when eventually I got into the university, my dream was to graduate.

How pathetic! When we grow up, we dream less And become more realistic. WhyWhy do we have to change our dreams, so in order to let it be "fulfilled"Why do we have to surrender to the so-called "reality"What IS the reality actually

Ladies And gentlemen, the reality is not real. It is a barrier keeping us from all the possible fantasies. Flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousands of years. A hundred years ago, "man could not fly" was still regarded as the "reality". Now if that was really the reality, what did the Wright brothers doHow did some of you go abroadOnly when we believe that the reality is not real can we soar with our dreams.

People say that our future is a battle between the reality And our dreams. And if, unfortunately, Mr. Reality wins this war, then I see no future of mankind at all. AIDS will never be curable as this IS the reality; People living in the undeveloped countries will suffer from starvation forever as this IS the reality; Disputes among different countries would never be settled as intolerance IS the reality.

Now,the majority of Chinese hold the point that substance is more important than the spirit,and the reality is much more powerful than the dreams. However, what we ,the young generation own, is mainly the spirit and the dreams. So, as the young ,we are supposed to challenge the reality with our ideas and dreams.

So, if you have a dream, an idea that you expect to lead to a bright future, please hold on to it tight, because with your horizon, effort and ability ,the dream may change not only your destiny,but also our future.

梦想与现实

亲爱的同学们、评委们：

大家晚上好！今天，我演讲的主题是——梦想与现实。

当我们在小学的时候，老师问我们：“你们有什么梦想呀？”“科学家，工程师，老师”小朋友们豪情壮志地回答。到了初中，梦想这个话题说得少了，它更多地被当成一个课程讨论、写作的填充物。高中，大家的梦想变得近乎一致——考大学。到了大学，我们的梦想就是毕业找工作。

多么无奈啊!当我们逐渐成长，我们的梦想变得更加现实。为什么？为什么我们要改变我们的梦想，让梦想成为一种“满足”？为什么我们要向所谓的“现实”投降？而现实究竟又是什么呢？

同学们，现实不是绝对的。它是一到屏障，挡住我们所有瑰丽的奇思妙想。一百多年前，“人类无法飞上天空”被视为现实。如果现实是绝对的，那莱特兄弟发明的是什么？我们天天看见听见的、南昌大学上空飞过的又是什么？同学们，只有相信“现实不是绝对的”，我们才可以改变现状，才能携着梦想扬帆起航。

同学们，我认为，我们的未来是一场博弈，是一场梦想与现实的博弈。若现实永远打败理想，那我们人类还有什么美好未来可言？社会保障不会完善，因为这是现实：许多疾病不能治愈，因为这是现实；恐怖主义无法停息，因为这是现实？

中国当代文化研究中心主任王晓明教授认为：“今天的主流意识是，物质比精神更重要，现实比理想更有力，而年轻人所能拥有的，主要就是精神和理想。”是啊，作为年轻的热血的我们，应该拿出我们特有的坚定的理想主义，在高高飘扬的理想的旗帜下，用叛逆改造顽固，用热血温暖冷漠，用骄傲化解自卑，用实力振奋脆弱，用梦想挑战现实！

所以，如果你有一个梦，一个你坚信它会有光明未来的idea，请执拗地坚持下去，因为你的眼光、努力和实力将成为实践改变命运、梦想战胜现实、未来走向光明的伟大力量！
